Using a D100 to emulate other dice

Simply throw your D100 and compare to the column of the die you want to emulate. If the percentage has a decimal point and is on the boundary with a higher value, simply roll your D100 again and compare. If you roll under the decimal value, the value in on the table stands. If higher, boost it up by one. Incredible! If the value is on the boundary with a lower value, you're safe! Don't roll again!

For example, if we want to emulate a d8 with a d100, and got a 38 on that d100, the result is 3 (37.5), and the next row down is a different number. Because of the decimal and the fact that the next row down is a different value, we would roll the d100 again. If the result is 50 or below (0.5), it stands at a 3. If 51 or higher, then convert the d8 result to a 4 (the next row down). if we had rolled a 37 on the d100, then the value would stand, because the next row down is the same value.

Using a coin (d2) to emulate other dice

Toss your coin, and then compare to the column of the die you want to emulate. Count how many bands of values are within the d2 value band.

For example, if we are trying to emulate a d6 roll, and got heads, then there are three bands within the value (4,5,6)

Then roll your d2 again, and compare against the die column big enough to encompass those bands. If there are more bands in the new die column than there are possible bands for the die being emulated, simply reroll if you get those higher bands. (Oh no! I need to add d50 and d25 columns so this joke works when emulating a d100...)

In this case, a d3. Let's say we got tails. The value positions within that band are the first and second positions (4,5)

Repeat these steps until the positions left can fit within the d2 probability space. (Ooh, you know this is legit if I'm breaking out terms like that!)

To finish the example, if we get tails again, then the result is a four.

Is this mathematically sound?
